Brazil's securities watchdog, the Comissão de Valores Mobiliários (CVM), announced in July 2026 that it is forming a strategic working group to draft rules for tokenised securities, with plans to launch an experimental regime within 60 days.
The move positions Brazil as one of the most active emerging-market jurisdictions on real-world-asset tokenisation, alongside Singapore, the UAE and Switzerland.
Why Brazil matters for RWA
Brazil already runs one of the world's most developed retail investment ecosystems on top of the B3 exchange. Bringing tokenised debt, receivables and fund shares under a defined regime could unlock a large domestic pool of on-chain issuance without the ambiguity that still hangs over parts of the US market.
